sneeky trip

This morning I took a sneeky trip over to the coast at Santa Cruz for an early morning stroll. I don't do this kind of thing nearly enough, as I'm usually too involved with work projects, and am very self controlled when it comes to not taking time out.

But today I'm glad I broke the rules! It was beautifully cool and crisp after an early frost, and I went to one of my favourite walking spots with the dogs, watching as they sniffed amoungst emerging wild flowers and spring grass. Woodpeckers drummed a tattoo at the tops of the smooth barked giant madrones, and the fresh breeze carried their pungent menthol scent through the meadow. What a perfect way to start the day! I followed that up by a quick stop at 'The Buttery' for a croissant and hot tea, and purchased a whole grain loaf for lunch.

I think I should break my own rules more often, as I have returned to work feeling inspired and witha pink glow in my cheeks!
